INTRODUCTION

As a seasoned financial services provider with a rich legacy spanning more than 39 years mastertrust is empowering investors with unparalleled insights, tools, and personalised guidance. mastertrust's key offering includes stock trading, forex trading, and investment advisory services. mastertrust get’s listed on NSE in November 2024.

In this project, we rebranded the current app with revamped the user experience and redesigned the UI, which is one of the largest projects at mastertrust.

MY ROLE

I'm the Sr. UI/UX Designer for this project. I collaborated with other product designers (both inhouse and freelancers).

DEFINING THE PROBLEM

Since 2018, mastertrust's current trading appmastermobileexperience has not been changed. Here are the key problems with the core experience.

The existing app had an outdated UX, lacked essential trading features, and suffered from complex navigation, making even basic tasks frustrating. Without key tools like mpin login, strategy builders, and real-time notifications, users struggled to engage effectively. The overall experience felt clunky and uninspiring, leading to poor retention and an urgent need for a modern, intuitive redesign.

Agnik strengthens the core trading experience by offering an intuitive and feature-rich platform. With watchlists, in app customer support and a streamlined interface, we aim to build user habits that encourage frequent trading while improving market accessibility.

Operational Efficiency
To ensure scalability and consistency, we have developed reusable design components that seamlessly work across both light and dark themes. This approach optimises internal workflows, accelerates future updates, and maintains a cohesive experience across the platform.

For Agnik, we conducted design sprints to collaborate across departments, including Product Designers, Product Managers, and Stakeholders. These sprints served as a creative brainstorming platform where diverse perspectives came together. The primary goal of the sprints was to align all teams toward a unified objective — to structured the project into clear stages and sub-steps, ensuring a systematic approach to tackling complexities and refining the user experience at each phase.

By analyzing customer reviews from the App Store, Play Store and customer support tickets, we identified key pain points in the existing “mastermobile” trading app. Users highlighted outdated UX, slow performance, and a lack of essential trading tools. Recurring feedback pointed to complex navigation, unreliable order execution, and missing real-time insights. These insights helped us define the core problems, ensuring Agnik would address them with a modern interface, streamlined workflows, and enhanced trading efficiency tailored to user needs.

To validate Agnik’s designs and test prototypes, we developed a detailed discussion framework and conducted a mix of in-person and remote user interviews. Testing involved over 10 participants, utilizing both controlled environments and lean research methods.

These sessions provided valuable insights into user behaviour, ensuring that each feature resonated with their needs. Feedback gathered during these tests helped refine key areas like navigation, trading Flow, and Personalisation need which will enhance overall usability.

Previously cluttered and outdated, the mastermobile app struggled to meet modern trading needs. Through a complete redesign, we’ve given it a polished, contemporary look paired with a highly functional experience. With scalable components and a focus on user-centric design, the revamped app ensures every action feels purposeful, helping traders navigate with confidence and ease.
